Free Functional Skills English Level 1 classes in Selby. Classes run at Selby Adult Learning and Skills Service, with daytime sessions spread across 18 weeks at a manageable part-time pace. The course covers reading, writing, speaking, and listening at Level 1. It suits anyone who does not yet hold a Level 1 or higher English qualification and wants to strengthen their everyday English skills. Level 1 Functional Skills English is recognised by employers as a step toward Level 2, the GCSE English equivalent. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm the level is right for you.

How you will learn
You'll learn through classroom-based sessions at Selby Adult Learning and Skills Service. Teaching covers reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Assessment is through a formal written exam and a speaking and listening assessment, both set by City and Guilds. You'll work toward these throughout the course, with support from your tutor in class.
