About this course

Free Entry Level 3 Functional Skills Maths in Loughborough. Classes run at Main Campus, full-time during the day. This is a GCSE maths alternative for anyone who needs to build their maths skills before moving into further study or work. The course typically takes one year. You'll cover the core maths skills that employers and colleges look for, and the qualification is the recognised GCSE maths equivalent at Entry Level.

Who this course is for

If you are a school leaver and you have little or no experience of the motor industry then this IMI course will provide you with a solid foundation to progress towards an industry-recognised qualification. This programme uses a practical approach, with classroom delivery kept to a minimum in order to gain an understanding of motor vehicle technology from a workshop environment. It also provides the Maths, English, and work skills you’ll need to successfully progress into the world of work or further study. As part of the course, we will provide overalls, safety boots and safety glasses.There is a course fee of £50 for all learning materials, including E-books.

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs (neither maths or English achieved) Please note: This course is aimed at learners aged 16-18 and adult learners with an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) identifying it as their chosen course. Adult learners are encouraged to contact Student Recruitment who will look at alternative Level 2 courses or if necessary Adult English and Maths courses that will enable them to join a Level 2 course afterwards.

How you will learn

You'll study in a classroom at Main Campus, Loughborough, with full-time daytime attendance across the year. Assessment for the Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics (Entry 3) is through a written examination set and marked by Pearson Edexcel. Your progress will be supported through classroom activities and practice tasks throughout the course.
