About this course

Free Entry Level 3 Functional Skills Maths Course in Camberley. Classes run at Camberley Adult Learning Centre, part-time during the day. Weekly two-hour sessions run for 22 weeks, from January to July. This is a free functional skills maths course for adults aged 19 or over on 31 August 2025, who do not already hold a GCSE in Maths at grade A* to D (grade 9 to 3). You'll have an online initial assessment before you start. This places you on the right level and helps plan your learning. The course prepares you for the Entry Level 3 exam, a recognised gcse maths alternative for everyday life and work.

Who this course is for

You need to be 19 or over on the 31st of August 2025 and not have a grade A* - D / grade 9 - 3 GCSE in Maths. Entry Requirements You will need to complete an online initial assessment. This will help us place you on the correct course. Attendance You will be required to attend at least 90% of your classes. Should your attendance fall below this, your place on the course may be at risk. This is an academic course, and you must allow time for private study at home of at least 2 hours per week.

What you will learn

  • You'll work with whole numbers, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • You'll read, write and compare numbers in everyday contexts.
  • You'll use fractions and percentages in practical situations.
  • You'll handle money, including calculating costs and giving change.
  • You'll read and interpret simple charts, tables and graphs.
  • You'll measure length, weight, capacity and time using standard units.
  • You'll apply maths to real-life tasks such as shopping, travel and work.

How you will learn

You'll attend weekly two-hour classes at Camberley Adult Learning Centre, taught by a subject specialist tutor. You'll also be expected to study independently at home for at least two hours a week. The centre supports this through online tools including Moodle and BKSB. Assessment is by a formal written exam at the end of the course. You must attend at least 90% of your classes to keep your place on the course.

What you will need to bring

You'll need a ring binder or folder, lined paper, pens and pencils. You'll also need access to a computer or laptop and a printer for home study. Camberley Adult Learning Centre will confirm anything else you need before you start.
