Free Entry Level 3 Functional Skills English in Northallerton. Evening classes run at Richmond Adult Learning and Skills Service, so you can fit study around work or other commitments. The course runs for 18 weeks part-time. You'll build reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills at Entry Level 3, covering everyday tasks like filling in forms, writing messages, and understanding information. This is a recognised step toward Functional Skills Level 1 and Level 2 English, which is the GCSE English equivalent accepted by employers and colleges.

What you will learn
You'll read and understand short texts used in everyday life, such as notices, letters, and instructions.
You'll write simple sentences and short texts clearly and accurately.
You'll use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar at Entry Level 3.

How you will learn
Classes are classroom based, with group and individual activities covering reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Assessment is through tasks and activities set by City and Guilds. You'll be assessed on your ability to read and understand texts, produce written work, and take part in spoken communication. There is an initial assessment at enrolment to confirm Entry Level 3 is the right starting point for you.
