Free Entry Level 3 Functional Skills English in Catterick Garrison. Classes run at Catterick Library & Information Centre, part-time during the day, over 18 weeks. This is a manageable pace that works well alongside caring responsibilities or other commitments. You'll build reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills at Entry Level 3. An initial assessment at the start helps confirm this is the right level for you and shapes your learning plan. Functional Skills English Level 2 is the recognised GCSE English equivalent; Entry Level 3 is the step that leads there.

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

You'll read and understand everyday texts, including forms, letters, and signs.
You'll write clearly for everyday purposes such as messages, notes, and short letters.
You'll spell common words correctly and use basic punctuation.
You'll listen and respond in straightforward conversations and discussions.

You'll identify the main points in short spoken and written texts.
How you will learn
You'll learn in a classroom at Catterick Library & Information Centre, working through reading, writing, speaking, and listening tasks. Assessment is through a set of tasks that cover each skill area. These are assessed by your tutor and submitted to City and Guilds. There is no formal written exam at Entry Level 3; assessment is task-based and completed as part of your course.
