To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

What you will learn

  • You'll work with whole numbers, including counting, ordering, and simple calculations.
  • You'll add, subtract, multiply, and divide using everyday contexts.
  • You'll handle money, including giving change and working out simple costs.
  • You'll read and use simple charts, tables, and graphs.
  • You'll understand basic measures such as length, weight, and time.
  • You'll solve straightforward maths problems in practical, real-life situations.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom-based sessions at Northallerton Adult Education. Teaching uses practical tasks and worked examples to build your skills step by step. Assessment is through a formal written test set by City and Guilds. You'll need to pass the test to earn your certificate. Your tutor will help you prepare throughout the course.
