To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

  • You'll add, subtract, multiply, and divide using straightforward methods.
  • You'll handle money and work out basic costs.
  • You'll read and use simple fractions and percentages.
  • You'll interpret and use information from charts, tables, and diagrams.
  • You'll measure length, weight, capacity, and time in everyday contexts.
  • You'll solve practical maths problems using the skills above.

How you will learn

You'll learn in a classroom at Northallerton Adult Education, with a tutor guiding you through each topic. Learning is hands-on and practical, using everyday examples. Assessment is through a formal written test set by City and Guilds. You'll need to pass both a skills check and the external test to earn your certificate.
