Free Entry Level 2 Functional Skills English in Basildon. Classes run at Basildon GAPS Trade Centre. You must be enrolled on a vocational qualification at one of the GAPS centres to be eligible. The course covers reading, writing, and speaking and listening, with an assessment in each area. It runs over 55 hours of full-time daytime study. This is a recognised entry level functional skills maths alternative for those building toward a GCSE maths equivalent level of English.
Who this course is for
Young people aged 16-18 (and 16-24 with an EHCP) who would like to gain a qualification in Functional Skills English.

You'll complete an assessment in each of the three areas: reading, writing, and speaking and listening.
You'll get support with cost-of-living budgeting alongside your English skills.
How you will learn
You'll study in a classroom at Basildon GAPS Trade Centre during the day. Learning covers three areas: reading, writing, and speaking and listening. There is a separate assessment for each area. The course runs for 55 hours in total.
