About this course

Free Entry Level 2 Functional Skills English in Ripon. Evening classes run at Ripon Community House Ripon, so you can fit study around work or other commitments. Entry requirements

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

What you will learn

  • You'll read and understand short texts on familiar topics.
  • You'll write simple sentences using correct spelling and punctuation.
  • You'll listen and respond to spoken information in everyday situations.
  • You'll speak clearly to share information and ask questions.
  • You'll identify the main points in written and spoken material.
  • You'll use basic grammar correctly in your writing.

How you will learn

You'll learn in a classroom at Ripon Community House Ripon during evening sessions. Learning is practical and task-based, covering reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Assessment is through tasks and activities set by City and Guilds. There is no formal written exam at Entry Level 2; you'll be assessed on work completed during the course.
