You must be 19 or over and must not already hold an Entry Level 1 or higher maths qualification.

Who this course is for

This course is for people who want to improve their Maths skills and gain a qualification in Maths without having to take an exam.You must not have a current Entry 1 level or higher qualification.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at

What you will learn

  • You'll count, read, and write whole numbers up to 10.
  • You'll add and subtract using simple whole numbers.
  • You'll recognise and use basic shapes and measurements.
  • You'll handle everyday money amounts, including coins and notes.
  • You'll read and understand simple number information, such as times and dates.
  • You'll use maths to solve straightforward everyday problems.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom-based activities and practical tasks. Assessment is through portfolio evidence and observed tasks rather than a formal exam. Your tutor will work through topics with you in class and support you as you build your skills. There is no end exam for this entry level maths qualification.
