Free AAT Level 2 Certificate Accounting Course in Burton-on-Trent. Classes run at Burton Town Centre Campus, part-time during the day. This is the starting point for the AAT's three-level professional accounting qualification. Over one year, you'll study double-entry bookkeeping, account reconciliation, basic costing, and computerised accounting software. You'll also cover business communication, commercial law, and the professional skills employers look for in accounting and finance roles. Who this course is for
This course will give you the opportunity to gain the skill demanded by employers, whilst achieving a nationally recognised qualification. This 1 year course is the first level of the three year professional qualification which can lead to a career in Accounting. During the course you will study bookkeeping, reconcile accounts, computerised accounting and software, basic costing, and working in an accounting environment.
Completing this qualification will develop accountancy skills in double-entry bookkeeping and basic costing, as well as an understanding of purchase, sales and general ledgers.
You will learn an understanding of accounting software and develop the professional skills and behaviours needed to contribute effectively in the workplace. Working in accountancy requires good communication skills, IT skills and an understanding of the business environment, all of which are covered by this qualification.
The qualification develops additional business skills that have particular relevance to those working in accountancy, finance and general business roles.
You will be introduced to elements of commercial law that might have an impact on them when working in accountancy, such as contract law, employment law and company law. In addition, you will further develop your business communication and personal skills and will learn how to manage your personal and professional development through lifelong learning.
Please note: Learners will be required to pay an additional one-off registration fee of £180 directly to the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).
This one-off registration fee will give you access to the qualification for its lifetime, typically four to five years, and access to the study support resources, and enable you to sit the qualification assessments.

It is desirable for Applicants to have; a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or an equivalent qualification including GCSE maths grade 4 or level 2 equivalent in maths

How you will learn
You'll attend classroom sessions at Burton Town Centre Campus on Monday daytimes and Tuesday evenings. Learning is delivered face-to-face, covering both theory and practical accounting tasks. AAT Level 2 is assessed through computer-based exams set and marked by AAT. You'll sit these exams as you complete each unit of the qualification.
