About this course

Free Entry Level 1 Functional Skills English in Middlesbrough. Classes run at Middlesbrough Community Learning Service, part-time during the day. There are no entry requirements. At induction, you'll have an assessment so the centre can plan your learning at the right level for you. The course runs over one week and covers reading, writing, speaking, and listening. You'll practise skills you use in everyday life, at work, and in the community.

Who this course is for

This qualification aims to enable students to deal effectively with the demands of life, work, society and culture. It develops your skills and confidence by helping you to improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills at a level appropriate to your needs and competence. You will develop your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in a number of different ways, practising skills which you will need in your everyday life. You will be taught using a variety of interactive IT resources alongside formal classroom teaching. Resources will be available on the virtual learning environment which you will be able to access from home.

There are no entry requirements, students will be assessed at induction.
