What you will learn

How you will learn

You'll attend classroom workshops every two to three weeks, covering the knowledge behind the teaching assistant role. Alongside this, you volunteer in a school or college for at least one day a week. Assessment uses an e-portfolio built from assignments, observations of you working with children or young people, reflective accounts, and professional discussions. You'll also have regular one-to-one tutorials with your tutor. Expect around twelve hours a week in total, including placement, workshops, and independent study.

You'll need a current DBS check before you start (the centre can support you with this). You'll also need a confirmed placement at a school or college, with their agreement to help you gather evidence for assessment.
