About this course

Level 4 IQA Course in Redhill. Evening classes run at East Surrey College on Tuesday evenings, from 17:30 to 20:00. The course runs over 15 weeks, so you can fit your level 4 iqa qualification around existing work or assessor responsibilities. You'll cover two units: understanding internal quality assurance processes, and how to internally assure the quality of assessment. Delivery combines classroom sessions, remote learning via Teams, and one-to-one tutorials. To enrol, you'll need to demonstrate Level 2 English and have access to assessors working with learners on vocational qualifications.

Who this course is for

Entry requirements

You need to demonstrate Level 2 in English. It is recommended trainee IQAs hold a recognised assessing qualification at level 3. Trainee IQAs must have access to assessors assessing learners completing vocational qualifications in order to generate the evidence required to complete this qualification.

What you will learn

  • You'll understand the principles and legislation underpinning internal quality assurance of assessment.
  • You'll learn how to plan and carry out internal quality assurance activities.
  • You'll develop skills in sampling assessor decisions and assessment evidence.
  • You'll practise giving feedback to assessors to support their development.
  • You'll learn how to maintain accurate records of internal quality assurance activity.
  • You'll understand how to manage risks to the quality of assessment.

How you will learn

Learning is delivered through a combination of face-to-face classroom sessions, remote delivery via Microsoft Teams, and one-to-one tutorials. Assessment is portfolio-based. You'll gather evidence from your own internal quality assurance practice in the workplace, covering both units: understanding IQA processes and practice, and internally assuring the quality of assessment. You'll need access to a computer or laptop throughout the course.

What you will need to bring

You'll need access to a computer or laptop for remote sessions and portfolio work. East Surrey College will confirm anything else you need before you start.
