Level 4 HNC Manufacturing Engineering Course. Study online at your own pace. You'll need a relevant Level 3 engineering qualification or relevant work experience to join. If your maths is not at Level 3, a bridging maths course is strongly recommended before you start. The minimum age is 18. This level 4 hnc manufacturing engineering course takes around one year and covers the core engineering knowledge and skills employers expect at higher technician level. It sits at the same level as the first year of a university degree, and it can lead directly into the second or third year of an engineering degree programme.
Who this course is for
BTEC Higher Nationals are internationally recognised higher education qualifications at levels 4 and 5 that are equivalent to the first and second years of a university degree. They provide learners with an affordable, vocational route to completing a degree, upskilling or employment. These courses are fully accredited by Pearson. This course is the ideal choice for you if:You want an affordable, fast-track, and guaranteed route towards the third and final year of an Engineering degree-related BA/BSc degree You are employed, do not have the time to go to college or university, and, therefore, need a more flexible route up the ladder. You currently work in an Engineering sector and want to upskill and progress in your role.
Entry requirements
A pre-requisite to gaining entry onto the HNC is to have a relevant level 3 qualification in engineering OR relevant work experience in the engineering. For those who have not studied up to level 3 in Maths, it is strongly recommended that you consider adding on the Bridging Maths course, learners may be required to complete a bridging course(s) before gaining entry onto an HNC/D. Age requirement: the minimum age requirement for this course is 18.
What you will learn
You'll develop knowledge of engineering principles and their application in manufacturing contexts.
You'll study mathematics and science as they apply to engineering problems.
You'll explore manufacturing processes, materials, and production techniques.
You'll examine quality management and continuous improvement methods used in industry.
You'll build understanding of project management within engineering environments.
You'll analyse engineering systems and their design considerations.
You'll apply health, safety, and sustainability principles to manufacturing settings.
How you will learn
This is an online course, so you study through digital learning materials you can access when it suits you. Assessment is through assignments and projects rather than exams. You submit work online and receive feedback from tutors. The course is structured around units, each assessed separately, so you build toward the full qualification progressively over the year.
What you will need to bring
The centre will provide most materials. Unicourse will confirm anything else you need before you start.
Where next
Jobs you could do
Manufacturing engineer. Oversee production processes and solve engineering problems.
Production engineer. Improve efficiency and output on the factory floor.
Quality engineer. Ensure products meet specification and industry standards.
Process engineer. Design and optimise manufacturing workflows.
Engineering technician. Support senior engineers across a range of projects.
Operations supervisor. Manage teams and production schedules in manufacturing.
