About this course

Level 3 Makeup Artistry Course in Derby. Classes run at The White Rose School of Beauty Derby, daytime on a flexible schedule.

Funding options are available and will be discussed at interview. You'll need a Level 2 qualification in beauty therapy or make-up, or you may be assessed through a skills test and interview.

The course covers professional makeup techniques across around 180 hours of study. You'll work through units on skin analysis, colour theory, editorial looks, special effects, and bridal makeup. You'll finish with a VTCT Diploma in Make-Up Artistry at Level 3.

Who this course is for

This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years and over and will support you to gain employment as a make-up artist, as the units contained in the qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role.

Entry requirements

Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 2 qualification in beauty therapy or Make-up and/or a successful skills test and interview. You must be 16 or over to do this course via apprentice routes or 19 and over to complete this course via access to Advanced Learner Loans.

How you will learn

You'll learn through practical sessions in a salon-style environment at the centre. Assessment includes practical demonstrations, written assignments, and observations of your technique. You'll build a portfolio of work throughout the course. Your tutor will observe and assess your skills directly as you practise on models.
