About this course

Level 2 Health and Social Care Course in Nottingham. Classes run at Bluecoat Sixth Form, full-time during the day. A 16-19 Bursary Fund may be available for households with an income under £33,000 a year. Fees may apply for others. This health and social care qualification gives you a practical, work-related introduction to the sector over one year. You'll cover the knowledge and skills needed to support people in care settings, from communication and safeguarding to health and wellbeing. Entry requires five GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and Maths.

Who this course is for

The Level 2 Extended Diploma is a one-year full-time vocational course that will provide a practical, work related introduction to the Health & Social Care sector.

Upon achievement of this qualification, learners will be able to progress to our Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or into a range of job roles within the health and social care sector such as:

  • Care Support Workers in Adult Residential Settings
  • Healthcare Assistants in Community, Primary Care and Acute Health Environments
  • Care Support Workers in Domiciliary Services, Supported Living or Day Services
  • Community-Based Support Workers.

You may wish to progress onto further study at Level 3, which is equivalent to 3 A Levels & attracts UCAS points for entry into Higher Education.

Entry requirements

5 x grade 3 or above including English (Lang or Lit) and Maths. Students must also have a mature approach and an aptitude to work within the Care sector.

You'll build a portfolio of evidence across the course to demonstrate your knowledge and skills.
