About this course

Level 3 First Aid at Work Course in Truro. Classes run at Truro College over two days. This is a renewal course for people whose First Aid at Work certificate is still in date. You must bring your current certificate with you on the day. If your certificate has already expired, you will need the full three-day first aid at work course instead. The two-day format means you can complete your level 3 first aid at work qualification without a long break from work or other commitments.

Who this course is for

This course is specifically designed for individuals who wish to act as a first aider in their workplace. The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require all employers to make arrangements to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work. This includes carrying out a risk assessment, appointing a suitable amount of first aiders and providing appropriate first aid training.

What you will learn

  • You'll review how to manage a casualty who is unresponsive and not breathing
  • You'll practise CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • You'll learn how to treat bleeding, shock, and wounds
  • You'll cover how to respond to choking in adults
  • You'll refresh your knowledge of common medical emergencies, including heart attacks and strokes
  • You'll practise safe moving and handling of a casualty
  • You'll review how to record and report a first aid incident in the workplace

How you will learn

Learning is classroom based, with hands-on practical sessions throughout both days. Assessment includes observed practical skills and a short written or verbal knowledge check. You need to demonstrate competence in the practical elements to pass. Attendance for the full two days is required.

What you will need to bring

You must bring your current First Aid at Work certificate as proof it is still in date. Truro College will confirm anything else you need before you start.
