  • You'll learn how to manage unconscious casualties, including placing someone in the recovery position.
  • You'll learn how to recognise and respond to common medical emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes, and seizures.
  • You'll learn how to record and report first aid incidents in the workplace.

How you will learn

Learning takes place in a classroom at Middlesbrough Community Learning Service. You'll take part in practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises covering emergency scenarios. Assessment includes a practical skills assessment and a short knowledge-based test. Both are completed on the day. You'll need to demonstrate competence in key first aid techniques to pass.
