About this course

Level 3 Electrical Inspection and Testing Course in Blackpool. Classes run at Bispham Campus over 6 days, part-time during the daytime. This City and Guilds level 3 electrical inspection and testing qualification is designed for practising electricians who already hold a relevant Level 3 electrotechnical qualification. You'll need an up-to-date 18th Edition certificate and a solid understanding of BS7671. The course covers both initial verification and periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations, combining what were previously two separate courses.

Who this course is for

The City & Guilds 2391-52 Level 3 Award in Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations targets practising electricians. It merges the C&G 2391-50 and 2391-51 courses, encompassing both initial verification and periodic assessments. This qualification is intended for electricians that hold relevant Level 3 Electrotechnical qualifications, who want to undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD), learn new skills, and enhance their understanding of initial and periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations.

Entry requirements

Participants must be 18 or over. This qualification is intended for practising electricians, holding a relevant level 3 qualification (such as C&G 2365/2357/2330/8282/5357/5393, equivalent historic qualifications or other awarding organisation equivalent). Up to date 18th Edition certificate and a good understanding of IET Wiring Regulations BS7671.

What you will learn

  • You'll learn the requirements for initial verification of electrical installations.
  • You'll learn how to carry out periodic inspection and testing of existing installations.
  • You'll understand how to interpret and apply BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations in inspection contexts.
  • You'll learn how to complete inspection and test documentation accurately.
  • You'll develop your ability to identify faults and non-compliant wiring.
  • You'll understand the criteria for issuing Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and Electrical Installation Certificates (EICs).

How you will learn

Learning takes place in the classroom at Bispham Campus. The City and Guilds 2391-52 qualification is assessed through a written examination and a practical assessment. The written paper tests your knowledge of inspection and testing principles and BS7671. The practical element requires you to demonstrate inspection, testing, and fault-finding skills on electrical installations.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. Bispham Campus will confirm anything else you need before you start.
