About this course

Level 3 Education and Training Course. Study online at your own pace over 6 months. You need to be 18 or over and have a qualification or experience in the subject you want to teach. This level 3 education and training qualification covers three mandatory units: your roles and responsibilities as a teacher, inclusive teaching and learning approaches, and how to assess learning. It introduces you to teaching in the post-16 sector without requiring a formal teaching placement, though you will take part in microteaching. It is a stepping stone toward higher-level teaching qualifications.

Who this course is for

This is an introductory course for people who are skilled and qualified in a work related area and want to learn to teach or train others. Known as a 'Gateway' course, it won't equip you to be a fully qualified teacher or trainer, but it is the first step to accessing higher level courses that will do so.

Entry requirements

You need to be 18 years or over. You should have achieved or be aiming to achieve a qualification at NVQ level 3 and/or have experience in the subject/skill you wish to teach.

What you will learn

  • You'll explore the roles, responsibilities, and relationships involved in education and training.
