Level 3 Assessing Competence in the Work Environment Course in Middlesbrough. Classes run at Middlesbrough College, part-time during the day. Fees may be remitted if you are 16 to 18 years old on 31 August before your course begins. If you are 19 or over, fees may apply depending on your circumstances. This assessing competence in the work environment qualification suits those starting out as assessors, as well as managers, HR professionals, and quality assurance staff who need a solid grounding in assessment principles. The course runs over one year. You'll work through units covering assessment knowledge and, where applicable, practical competence assessment in a work environment.
Who this course is for
Unit 301 , Mandatory Unit A knowledge-only based Award for those who are starting their journey as an assessor, or for those who need to know about assessment principles but who are not currently practising e.g. a starting point for aspiring assessors or a professional development qualification for managers, human resource or quality assurance personnel. Unit 302 , Optional Unit For practitioners who assess the demonstration of competence in a work environment using the following assessment methods: observation, examining work products, oral questioning and discussion, use of others (e.g. witnesses), learner statements and recognition of prior learning (RPL). Unit 303 , Optional unit For practitioners who assess skills in simulated vocational related subject areas who use the following assessment methods: assessments in simulated environments, skills tests, oral and written questions, assignments, projects, case studies and RPL. This may take place in training workshops, classrooms or other learning environments.

How you will learn
Classes are delivered in the classroom at Middlesbrough College on a part-time daytime basis. The course is structured around two units. Unit 302 is an optional unit for those actively assessing competence in a workplace, assessed through practical evidence and observation.
