About this course

Level 3 Art and Design Practice Course in Chesterfield. Classes run at Chesterfield College, full-time over two years.

The course is free if you're 16 to 18 years old. If you're 19 or over, fees may apply, though an Adult Learner Loan can help cover the cost. You'll need five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including English or Maths, plus a portfolio of creative work to discuss at interview. Exceptional portfolios may be considered where the minimum grades aren't met.

The course covers drawing, visual communication, photography, digital media, and design processes. You'll develop a professional portfolio alongside your technical skills. You'll finish with a Pearson Edexcel BTEC National Diploma in Art and Design Practice.

Who this course is for

Entry requirements

You will need five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above (or a relevant Level 2 qualification) including at least one of English or Maths and a portfolio of creative work available to discuss at interview. Applicants without the minimum requirement but demonstrating exceptional creative ability throughout their portfolios may be considered.

How you will learn

You'll learn through studio-based projects, workshops, and independent creative work. Assessment is through a portfolio of coursework and practical assignments rather than written exams.
