Level 3 Applied Counselling Studies Course. Study online over 34 weeks, with sessions running on Monday evenings. This applied counselling studies course builds on a Level 2 Counselling qualification and develops the deeper skills and knowledge needed to work toward becoming a counsellor. You study at your own pace around your commitments, without travelling to a centre. Fees apply, though concessions are available. The course covers counselling theory, self-awareness, and ethical practice in a support and care context.
Who this course is for
This course is designed to support learners who want to work in the support and care sector. Successful completion provides the skills and knowledge needed for a range of roles that support the well-being of individuals. Learners are encouraged to explore relevant job roles through the National Careers Service to check how the course supports their chosen career path.
To enrol, learners must have completed a Level 2 Counselling course of at least 75 hours. The course is suitable for individuals who can demonstrate emotional stability, self-awareness, motivation to develop as a counselling practitioner, awareness of difference and diversity, and the ability to form counselling relationships. Learners should be able to reflect on personal experience, benefit from self-development, cope with course content, and identify reasons for training beyond personal interest.
The course is not suitable for anyone currently experiencing severe emotional or psychological difficulties, as it includes experiential activities involving personal disclosure. Tutors may advise learners to defer if the course is not appropriate at that time.
