Level 3 Animal Management Course in Durham. Classes run at East Durham College Houghall Campus, full-time during the day.

The course runs over two years and covers a mixture of theory and practical topics. You'll get hands-on experience in the Houghall animal unit, working with rabbits, guinea pigs, cats, dogs, ferrets, and exotic species. Year one leads to a Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Animal Management. Year two builds on that to complete the full qualification.

You'll finish with a City and Guilds Extended Diploma in Animal Management.

Who this course is for

The course runs over 2 years with successful completion of year 1 resulting in you achieving a Level 3 subsidiary diploma in animal management. The second year ensures you will gain credits to achieve the Level 3 extended diploma in animal management. You will cover a mixture of theory and practical topics and get hands-on experience working in the Houghall animal unit. The unit houses a variety of animals from rabbits and guinea pigs, exotics, small 'furries', cats, dogs and ferrets. You will also have opportunity to learn new skills working on the farm at Houghall with a variety of different breeds of sheep, pigs and cows.

Entry requirements

Direct Entry: 5 x GCSEs C or above including Maths, English and Science Progressive entry: Level 2 diploma in animal care and a minimum of level 1 maths and English. Attendance at 85%+ for previous year and satisfactory standards of behaviour.
