Level 2 Equine Care Course in Durham. Classes run at East Durham College Houghall Campus, full-time during the day over 36 weeks. You'll split your time between classroom theory and hands-on work at the Houghall equine unit, caring for horses in a working commercial setting. The unit houses horses suited to a range of abilities, so you'll build practical skills whatever your starting point. Entry requires either four GCSEs at grade 4 or above (including Maths, English, and Science) or a Level 1 land-based qualification with Entry Level 3 Maths and English. You must be able to ride.
Who this course is for
You will cover a mixture of theory and practical topics and get hands-on experience working on the Houghall equine unit. The equine unit houses a range of horses suitable for beginners to more advanced riders. You will have opportunity to learn new skills working on the equine unit caring for the horses in a commercial setting.
Entry requirements
Direct Entry: 4 x GCSEs at grade 4-5 or above including Maths, English and Science Progressive entry: Level 1 in a land-based subject and a minimum of Entry 3 maths and English. Attendance at 85%+ for previous year and satisfactory standards of behaviour. You must have the ability to ride.
