Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Course in Bristol. Classes run at Ashley Down Centre, part-time during the day, one day a week for around four hours over one year. You also spend roughly one day a week on placement in a school, building hands-on experience alongside your classroom study. The course covers the knowledge and practical skills needed to support teachers and pupils in primary or secondary schools. You'll need literacy skills at Level 1 or above to join, and you'll need to arrange a school work placement before you start.
Who this course is for
If you would like to be a Teaching Assistant but have little or no experience, this is the course for you. It will give you the knowledge and experience to be able to work as a Teaching Assistant in a primary or secondary school. You will attend college for around four hours a week for one year plus you will spend around one day a week in school to gain practical experience in the role.

You will need an appropriate work placement in a school. Please discuss this with the tutor when you attend the interview----To be 16 years of age or over--Literacy skills to at least Level 1--On-line Literacy and Numeracy assessments will be given at interview--

The centre will provide most materials. Ashley Down Centre will confirm anything else you need before you start. You will need to arrange a suitable school work placement before the course begins - your tutor will discuss this with you at interview.
