To become an MOT tester, you must have: A current and full UK driving licence in the class of vehicles they wish to testA current Level 3 qualification in motor vehicle maintenance for the category you wish to test inFour years' experience working on the class of vehicles you wish to testNo ‘unspent' convictions for criminal offences connected with the MOT testing scheme or the motor trade, or involving acts of violence or intimidation
