Who this course is for

The objective of this qualification is to support a role in the workplace and/or to give learners personal growth and engagement in learning, specifically in relation to understanding the principles of first aid for mental health.

A mental health first aider is a nominated person within an organisation who anyone can go to, to assist with a mental health problem. The first aider will help to advise and guide those needing assistance, and will have knowledge of how to identify those who are developing mental health issues.

Entry requirements

This qualification is approved for delivery to learners aged 16 and above. It is advised that learners have a minimum of level 1 in literacy and/or numeracy or equivalent.

Learning takes place in the classroom over two daytime sessions at RACPD Thirsk. You'll take part in tutor-led sessions, group discussions, and scenario-based activities. Assessment is through a multiple-choice question paper and a short written assessment, both completed during the course.
