About this course

Level 2 Introduction to First Aid for Mental Health Course in Richmond. Classes run at RACPD Catterick. The course runs over 2 days of daytime classroom study. You'll learn how to recognise signs of mental health problems, provide initial support, and guide people toward the right help. It covers the role of a mental health first aider in the workplace, giving you the knowledge to act when someone needs assistance. This introduction to first aid for mental health qualification is delivered by Highfield and suits anyone aged 16 or above with at least Level 1 literacy or numeracy.

Who this course is for

The objective of this qualification is to support a role in the workplace and/or to give learners personal growth and engagement in learning, specifically in relation to understanding the principles of first aid for mental health.

A mental health first aider is a nominated person within an organisation who anyone can go to, to assist with a mental health problem. The first aider will help to advise and guide those needing assistance, and will have knowledge of how to identify those who are developing mental health issues.

Entry requirements

This qualification is approved for delivery to learners aged 16 and above. It is advised that learners have a minimum of level 1 in literacy and/or numeracy or equivalent.

Learning takes place in the classroom over two full days. You'll take part in tutor-led sessions, group discussions, and scenario-based activities. Assessment is through a multiple-choice question paper. You must pass the assessment to receive your Highfield Level 2 Award in Introduction to First Aid for Mental Health certificate.
