Level 2 Introduction to First Aid for Mental Health Course in Plymouth. Classes run at RACPD Plymouth over two full days. This introduction to first aid for mental health qualification covers how to recognise mental health conditions, provide initial support, and guide someone toward professional help. It's designed for anyone taking on a mental health first aider role at work, or anyone who wants to understand mental health first aid in a workplace setting. You'll need a minimum of Level 1 literacy or numeracy to join.

Who this course is for

The objective of this qualification is to support a role in the workplace and/or to give learners personal growth and engagement in learning, specifically in relation to understanding the principles of first aid for mental health.

A mental health first aider is a nominated person within an organisation who anyone can go to, to assist with a mental health problem. The first aider will help to advise and guide those needing assistance, and will have knowledge of how to identify those who are developing mental health issues.

Entry requirements

This qualification is approved for delivery to learners aged 16 and above. It is advised that learners have a minimum of level 1 in literacy and/or numeracy or equivalent.

Assessment is through a knowledge test or short-answer questions to confirm your understanding of the core content. No practical clinical skills are assessed.
