About this course

Level 2 Awareness of Dementia Course. Work-based training at your workplace. You complete this awareness of dementia qualification while in your current role, supported by your employer. The course runs over 4 days and covers how dementia affects people across all age groups and care settings, including NHS, private, and voluntary services. It applies to care assistants, support workers, family support workers, and team leaders working with people diagnosed with dementia. No prior qualifications are required, though a good standard of English and numeracy is expected.

Who this course is for

This qualification will help you to provide an improved service to individuals diagnosed with dementia and is aimed at occupational areas across all services.

The qualifications in awareness of dementia and dementia care are aimed at occupational areas across all service user groups and ages, working in statutory (including NHS), private and voluntary agencies. This also includes healthcare/care assistants, support/key workers, family support workers and team leaders/first line supervisors.

The awarding body for this qualification is City and Guilds.

Entry requirements

There are no specified entry requirements, however, a good standard of English and Numeracy are needed.
