About this course

Level 2 2D CAD Course in Bodmin. Evening classes run at STEM and Health Skills Centre, part-time over 15 weeks. That makes it straightforward to fit your 2d cad classes around existing work or other commitments. You'll learn to create complex 2D sketches, use advanced commands and features, build table-driven parts, and produce presentation-quality drawings that communicate clearly with fabrication teams. Some computing experience is useful, particularly in manufacturing or engineering design. This level 2 2d cad qualification is awarded by City and Guilds.

Who this course is for

This course is ideal if you have some experience in computing, perhaps in manufacturing or engineering design and want to increase your knowledge and skills and progress in your career.  By the end of the course you will be able to create complex 2D sketches, create and edit work using complex features and commands, create table driven parts, add additional information to a drawing layout to aid communication to the fabrication teams.  Create presentation quality displays of parts and assemblies. You must have some experience in using Solidworks before undertaking this course.

What you will learn

  • You'll create complex 2D sketches from scratch.
  • You'll use advanced CAD commands and editing features to build and modify designs.
  • You'll create table-driven parts within your drawings.
  • You'll add detailed information to drawing layouts to support fabrication teams.
  • You'll produce presentation-quality displays of parts and assemblies.

How you will learn

Classes are classroom based, with hands-on time working directly in CAD software. You'll build skills progressively through practical drawing tasks and exercises. Assessment is based on the work you produce, demonstrating your ability to create, edit, and present 2D designs to the standard required by the City and Guilds specification.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. STEM and Health Skills Centre will confirm anything else you need before you start.
