It runs at a manageable pace, with daytime mental health and wellbeing awareness classes that fit around other commitments. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm the course is the right level for you.
Who this course is for
Are you looking to improve your maths skills or prepare for a qualification? This non-qualification course is a stepping stone to the next level of maths. You'll recap and strengthen your number skills at either Entry 3 or Level 1. This course is perfect if you want to brush up on your maths for further training or work. On successful completion, you'll receive a College certificate.
Entry requirements
This course is appropriate for people who have established Maths skills at Entry Level 3 and English at Level 1 in speaking and listening, reading and writing. You may need to sit a computer-based initial assessment to show your current level of Maths and English.
What you will learn
You'll understand what mental health and wellbeing mean and why they matter.
You'll recognise common mental health conditions and their signs.
You'll explore factors that affect a person's mental health.
You'll learn how to support someone experiencing poor mental health.
You'll identify sources of help and where people can get support.
How you will learn
You'll learn through classroom-based sessions at Parkshot. Teaching is delivered face to face, with group discussion and tutor-led activities. Assessment is based on the work you complete during the course. There is no formal written exam for this Award.

The centre will provide most materials. Parkshot will confirm anything else you need before you start.
