Where next

Jobs you could do

  • Bricklayer: how to become a bricklayer, starting with site labouring or apprenticeships.
  • Construction operative: general site work while building trade skills.
  • Masonry worker: specialist work with brick, block, and stone.
  • Groundworker: site preparation and groundworks alongside bricklaying teams.

What you could study next

The natural next step is the Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying, which takes your practical skills further and is the level most employers look for in a skilled bricklayer. From there, an NVQ in Bricklaying supports the CSCS skilled-worker card you'll need for most construction sites. An Apprenticeship in Bricklaying is another route, combining paid work with structured training toward the same NVQ.
