About this course

Level 1 Art and Design Course in Poole. Classes run at Bournemouth and Poole College of Further Education, full-time during the day.

The course runs for one year. You'll explore drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, illustration, and 3D design. You'll also study the work of practising artists. Weekly tutorials give you regular feedback on your projects. The course may include GCSE English and Maths alongside your art and design classes.

You'll finish with a University of the Arts London Diploma in Art, Design and Media.

Who this course is for

This course is designed to be both fun and enjoyable. You will be introduced to traditional art and design skills of Drawing and Painting and learn about the work of practicing artists. It is designed to support students into education within a large, busy college through a nurturing and supportive approach.

Entry requirements

You will need to achieve 4 GCSEs including English and Maths Grades 3-1 (formerly GCSE Grades D-G) or the successful completion of a Foundation Entry Level 3 qualification and have achieved an Entry Level 3 Functional Skill in English and Maths.

We would also require a portfolio of current artwork. This could be examples of drawings, paintings, sculpture, photography, textiles, design etc...
