Free Teaching Assistant Level 2 Course in Northallerton. Evening classes run at Northallerton Adult Education, so you can fit study around your existing commitments. To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

What you will learn

  • You'll understand the roles and responsibilities of a teaching assistant in a school or college setting.
  • You'll learn how to support teachers in planning and delivering learning activities.
  • You'll explore how to communicate effectively with children, young people, and colleagues.
  • You'll develop knowledge of safeguarding and child protection principles.
  • You'll understand how to support learners with additional needs, including those with special educational needs or English as an additional language.
  • You'll learn about professional standards and behaviour expected in educational environments.

How you will learn

Classes are delivered in the classroom at Northallerton Adult Education over 12 weeks on an evening basis. Assessment is through written assignments and portfolio evidence that you build up during the course. There are no formal exams. You'll complete work that demonstrates your understanding of supporting learning in schools and colleges.
