About this course

Free Teaching Assistant Course Level 1 in Northallerton. Classes run at Skipton Adult Learning & Skills Service.

You'll study the basics of working in a school setting, including how classrooms are organised, how to support pupils, and the responsibilities of school staff. The course is open to adults aged 19 or over, and further eligibility is checked at enrolment.

This qualification is aimed at a range of learners who are thinking of working in a school setting including: young people, mature learners, learners with special educational needs or where English is an additional language.

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

How you will learn

You'll attend classroom sessions at the centre each week. Learning is through group activities, discussion, and short written tasks. Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence and assignments completed during the course. There is no formal exam.
