Who this course is for

This course will allow you to develop the practical skills and knowledge necessary to become a successful teacher in the Life Long Learning Sector. You will have the opportunity to explore the key educational theories and take a practical approach to all aspects of planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate the theoretical principles and knowledge you gain in a classroom based setting. The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is designed for those working or wishing to work as teachers/trainers in England. All candidates must have access to 100 hours of teaching practice. It may be possible for those who are not formally contracted as teachers/trainers to also complete this qualification via a placement at the college. This qualification is widely recognised as the full qualification for teaching in the post-16 sector and offers a route towards Qualified Teacher and Lecturer Status (QTLS) after employment in the sector and the submission of a portfolio of CPD activities. TLevel 5 Diploma in Education and Training is equivalent to a PGCE or DTLLS in post-compulsory education and training.

Entry requirements

A minimum of a Level 3 subject specialist qualification, including GCSE English at grade 4 or an equivalent Level 2 literacy qualification. (or) Several years' occupational experience within a relevant discipline will also be considered upon application. Applicants will either be expected to have a substantive teaching role or have secured a minimum of 100-hour teaching placement to undertake this programme. Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance checks must also be met.
