About this course

Free Level 3 Youth Work Practice Course. Work-based training at your workplace. You learn while you work in a youth work role, building your skills on the job over 18 months. The course covers working with young people across a range of youth work settings. It suits people already employed in the youth sector who want a recognised qualification, or those taking one as a condition of employment. No prior qualifications are needed, though a DBS check is required. Your employer contributes a small percentage toward the cost.

This qualification will enable apprentices to assist in work with young people in a range of youth work settings.

These qualifications have been designed for apprentices who:

Would like to assist in work with young people in a wide range of youth work settings Are currently employed within in the Youth work sector but would like to gain a recognised qualification for their own progression or need to take a qualification in Youth Work Practice as a condition of employment whilst working. All of our apprenticeships embed the apprentices' English, Maths and ICT skills. Prerequisites, entry conditions and advantageous skill sets are listed on our webpage.

What you will learn

  • You'll develop skills to support and assist young people in a range of youth work settings.
  • You'll learn how to plan and deliver activities that meet the needs of young people.
  • You'll understand safeguarding responsibilities and how to keep young people safe.
  • You'll build knowledge of equality, diversity, and inclusion in youth work practice.
  • You'll learn how to communicate effectively with young people and other professionals.
  • You'll develop your ability to reflect on your own practice and improve it.
  • You'll understand the legal and ethical frameworks that govern youth work.

How you will learn

You learn through your day-to-day work in a youth work setting. Assessment is work-based and includes a portfolio of evidence drawn from your practice, observations of your work with young people, and professional discussions with your assessor. Your assessor will visit you in your workplace to review your progress throughout the 18 months.
