About this course

Level 3 Nail Technology Studies Course in Plymouth. Classes run at Achievement Training Plymouth, part-time during the day, over 10 months. If you're 16 to 18 years old, the course may be free. If you're 19 or over, an Advanced Learner Loan can help cover the cost, and you may be eligible for a grant instead. You'll need a Level 2 related qualification or GCSEs at grade 5 or 6 in English, Maths, and a Science to join. The course covers liquid and powder nail enhancements, UV gel, e-file techniques, colour gel, and advanced nail art. You'll also work on paying clients before you finish.

Who this course is for

This qualification has specifically been designed for the 16-19 age group and builds on existing knowledge and understanding of nail services gained at Level 2, enabling learners to expand the scope of their technical skills for employment as a nail technician.

Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved a Level 2 related course or ideally have GCSE?s grade 5/6 in English, Maths and a Science

  • You'll apply nail enhancements using liquid and powder techniques.
  • You'll apply and maintain UV gel nail enhancements.
  • You'll use an e-file safely and effectively.
  • You'll apply colour gel and create advanced nail art designs.
  • You'll manage health and safety in a nail services environment.
  • You'll handle client care, communication, and consultation.
  • You'll promote products and services and develop teamwork skills.
  • You'll complete an end trade test and written exam to demonstrate your knowledge.

How you will learn

You'll learn in a training centre environment, practising techniques on models and, later, paying clients. Assessment includes a written exam and an end trade test. You'll also complete employer engagement and work experience as part of the qualification. Mandatory core units cover the full range of skills needed to work as a Nail Technician.
