About this course

Level 3 Barbering Course in Plymouth. Daytime barbering classes run at GHQ Training Plymouth. This is an advanced, work-based barbering qualification built on National Occupational Standards. You'll need to be employed or have a work placement in a barbershop or salon, as the course requires you to demonstrate skills in a real working environment. To apply, you'll ideally hold a Level 2 barbering qualification and have experience cutting men's hair, though candidates with relevant hairdressing experience may also be considered. The course runs over 24 months.

Who this course is for

The Level 3 (NVQ) Diploma in Barbering is based on the National Occupational Standards for Barbering. It is job ready qualification which requires learners to demonstrate in the workplace the skills and knowledge required for advanced barbering within the Hair industry. This is an advanced qualification and supports your barbering practices at the highest levels.

Entry requirements

Maths & English, Applicants will ideally hold a Level 2 Barbering qualification, have experience of cutting men’s hair and be employed or have a work placement within a Barbershop/Salon. Candidates with other relevant experience or qualifications, such as in hairdressing, may also be appropriate for this course, this is determined on individual circumstances. A TRADE TEST MAY BE REQUIRED

How you will learn

This is a workplace-assessed qualification. You'll attend classes at GHQ Training Plymouth and demonstrate your skills on the job in a barbershop or salon setting. Assessment includes practical observations, portfolio evidence, and knowledge assessments. A trade test may be required at the application stage. Your assessor will observe your work and review evidence of your barbering practice throughout the course.
