About this course

Level 3 Music Performance and Production Course in Lewes. Classes run at East Sussex College Group Lewes Campus, full-time over two years.

The course covers performing, recording, and producing music. You'll work in recording studios, develop session musician skills, and compose to professional briefs. Units include music production software, live performance, and building your own online presence. Who this course is for

The two-year UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Performance and Production course is equivalent to three full A-Levels. It is designed to prepare you for employment in the music industry, self-employment or for progression to higher education, for example at university or at a music conservatoire. Year 1 comprises the Diploma, and most students progress to the Extended Diploma in Year 2.

Entry requirements

Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English and/or maths at grade 4. Good ability on a musical instrument to be shared at interview.,Successful completion of current course(s)

How you will learn

You'll learn through practical project work in the studio, rehearsal rooms, and performance hall. Assessment is project-based, with work submitted as recordings, performances, and compositions. You'll build a portfolio throughout the course. Classes are delivered in person at the Performing Arts Centre in Lewes, which includes a Mac suite, recording studio, rehearsal studios, and a performance hall.

The centre will provide most materials. East Sussex College Group Lewes Campus will confirm anything else you need before you start. You'll need to demonstrate a good level of ability on a musical instrument at interview.
