About this course

Free Level 3 ICT Systems Support Course. Study online at your own pace, fitting learning around work or other commitments. This free ICT systems support course is part of the Free Courses for Jobs offer and may be funded by the government for eligible adults. The course typically takes 6 months and builds technical IT skills used in entry-level industry roles. You'll cover areas such as IT systems, networking, and technical support. All applicants complete an initial assessment to confirm the level is right for them.

Who this course is for

This course is for adult learners aged 19+ who may already have a level 2 IT qualification or some experience of working with IT systems. It will build on these prior skills and knowledge, providing a full level 3 diploma helping them to progress to their next step which may be new employment, a promotion or further learning. It is suitable for learners who need technical IT skills that are used in IT industry entry level positions such as IT Technician, 1st Line support and IT Helpdesk roles. ***Please note it is not an IT User course, it is an IT Practitioners course.***

Entry requirements

Ideally a level 2 qualification or some technical IT work experience is preferable for this course. For learners who do not have this we recommend they first complete our level 2 course. A good level of IT user skills are required, such as being able to work on a computer, log on to the internet and use standard office tools like Microsoft Word. All applicants are interviewed and asked to undertake an initial assessment to check their current English, maths and IT ability level

How you will learn

You study online, working through course materials at your own pace. All applicants are interviewed and complete an initial assessment covering English, maths, and IT ability before starting. Assessment is based on the qualification requirements set by City and Guilds. You'll be assessed through a combination of coursework and practical tasks that reflect real IT support scenarios.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. JBC Skills Training will confirm anything else you need before you start. You'll need a reliable internet connection and the ability to use a computer, log on to the internet, and work with standard office tools such as Microsoft Word.
