The UK needs 500,000 public charge points by 2030, so qualified installers are in strong demand.
To enrol, you must already hold a Level 3 NVQ, Apprenticeship, or Gold Card. You'll finish with a City and Guilds Level 3 Award in EV charging installation.
As the UK drives toward a net-zero economy by 2050, decarbonising transport is a top priority. With transport being one of the largest contributors to CO2 emissions, electrification is critical.
By August 2024, there were over 1.1 million battery-electric cars on UK roads, reflecting a 71% increase in EV registrations from 2022 to 2023. The UK now has around 66,779 public charge points across 34,570 locations. However, to meet future demands, this number must rise to 500,000 by 2030.
The rapid expansion of EV charging infrastructure is driving an urgent need for a skilled workforce to install and maintain these systems safely and efficiently. It’s crucial to equip professionals with the necessary skills to meet the demand.
