Level 3 Equine Management Course in Weymouth. Classes run at Weymouth College, full-time during the day. It's free for some learners and fees may apply for others. If you're 16 to 18 years old, there are no course fees. If you're 19 to 25 years old, government funding or a student loan may be available depending on your circumstances. This two-year equine management qualification covers horse care, yard management, riding, and the business side of the equine industry. You'll need four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English, maths, and science, plus riding ability to at least BHS Stage 1 standard. The course is equivalent to three A levels.

4 GCSEs at Grade 9-4 including English, maths and science.There is a possibility of wrapping English or maths GCSE around this course should a grade 3 have been achieved.Riding ability to at least BHS Stage 1 standard on the flat and experience riding over short tracks of fences at 70cm will be required should a ridden pathway be chosen over the two years. A facilities manager pathway is also offered and can be discussed at interview.The Equine Academy has a weight limit of 85kg(13 Stone 5 llbs)

How you will learn

Learning combines classroom theory with hands-on practical sessions at the college's yard. You'll care for horses on site as part of your regular timetable. Assessment includes written assignments, practical observations, and work-based evidence gathered during industry placements. You'll also have the option to sit British Horse Society exams alongside your main qualification, at an additional cost.

The centre will provide most materials. Weymouth College will confirm anything else you need before you start. You will need suitable yard clothing and riding kit for practical sessions. The equine facility has a weight limit of 85kg (13 stone 5 lbs), which applies to all students on the ridden pathway.
