
Free Level 3 Engineering and Manufacturing Course. Work-based training at your workplace.
You train while you work, earning as you learn. The course takes around 42 months to complete. You'll study core engineering knowledge that applies across all pathways. Topics include engineering maths and science, materials, diagnostics, and safe working practices. You then specialise in one area. Pathways include Machinist (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering), Product Design and Development Technician, or Technical Support Technician. You'll need GCSEs in English and Maths at grades 4 to 9, or Level 2 Functional Skills in both subjects.
You'll finish with a Level 3 Diploma in Engineering and Manufacturing Support Technologies.
Engineering Technicians take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the work they undertake within the limits of their personal authority. They also need to be able to demonstrate a core set of behaviours in order to be competent in their job role, complement wider business strategy and development. This will enable them to support their long-term career development. Engineered and manufactured products and systems that Engineering Technicians work on could involve mechanical, electrical, electronic, electromechanical and fluid power components/systems.
The pathways we offer in this standard will be: Machinist (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering), Product Design and Development Technician, Technical Support Technician.
Typically GCSEs in English and Maths at grades 9-4 OR Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths.
