Entry requirements

To access vocational courses, students would generally achieve grade 4s (or higher) in their GCSES. You should have at least a grade 4 in GCSE English language and GCSE English literature. A grade 4 or above in GCSE media would be advantageous, but having studied media at GCSE is not essential. Alternatively, a Level 2 merit or above in a vocational media course would be advantageous, but having studied vocational media is not essential to studying this course.

What you will learn

  • You'll develop theoretical knowledge of the media industry and how it works.
  • You'll plan and produce your own media texts and creative projects.
  • You'll learn social media marketing and advertising techniques.
  • You'll build editing and production skills using industry-standard tools.
  • You'll understand the professional values and job roles within the media sector.
  • You'll develop skills in meeting deadlines and managing project work.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom lessons, practical projects, and independent study. Two of the six units are assessed through external exams. The other four are assessed internally through coursework and practical projects. You'll work both individually and as part of a group.
