About this course

Free Level 3 Creative Media Course in Southend-on-Sea. Classes run at South Essex College Southend Campus, full-time over two years.

The course covers television and film production across a wide range of genres. You'll use industry-standard equipment to plan, shoot and edit your own projects, from music videos and documentaries to live TV shows and short films. You'll also develop skills in lighting, audio, camera work, editing software, scriptwriting and radio production. Work with external clients and take part in industry trips alongside your studies.

You'll need a Level 2 qualification or four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English or Maths. You'll finish with a University of the Arts London Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology.

Who this course is for

This course will give you a nationally recognised vocational qualification which acts as a stepping stone to a career in media production or for entry to higher education. This course allows you to develop a wide range of skills and knowledge in a range of television and film genres and contexts.

Completing this course will give you a UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & technology (Television and Film).

Entry requirements

Level 2 qualification or GCSEs x 4 at grade 4/C - one to be grade 4/C in ENGLISH OR MATHS dependent on vocational subject to be studied You will be asked to provide evidence of your ability in the subject which could be in the form of a portfolio Successful attendance at interview event

How you will learn

You'll learn through practical project work in a classroom and studio setting. Projects include music videos, advertising, documentaries, podcasts and short films. You'll also take part in industry day trips and work experience opportunities. Assessment is through a portfolio of work and project-based assignments rather than written exams. You'll attend an interview event before starting the course and may be asked to provide a portfolio as evidence of your ability.
