About this course

Free Level 3 Creative Media Course in Lancaster. Classes run at Lancaster & Morecambe College four days a week, with a fifth day for home study.

The course runs over two years and covers a broad range of digital media disciplines. In year one you'll explore digital film editing, interactive media, motion graphics, and 3D character rigging. Year two lets you specialise in film and sound or game design, finishing with a major project. You'll need five GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths and English, or a related Level 2 qualification with equivalent Maths and English grades.

You'll finish with a University of the Arts London Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology at Level 3.

Who this course is for

This course is designed for 16-18 year old and adult learners the course will include a substantial amount of careers related learning designed to support progression to the suitable next step, this could include educational trips, employability skills and employer encounters such as guest speakers. For 16-18 year old will be delivered as a study programme which includes math and English where applicable and work experience.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or higher including Maths and English OR a Level 2 related qualification PLUS grade C/4 or higher in BOTH Maths and English. Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.

Assessment is project-based throughout, with work building toward a final major project in the last term. You'll also take part in careers-related activities, including employer encounters and guest speakers. Work experience is included as part of the study programme.

What you will need to bring

You'll need a USB drive or external hard drive to store your work. Bring your own headphones for personal use during sessions. You may also be asked to contribute toward the cost of trips and special events. Lancaster & Morecambe College will confirm anything else you need before you start.
